Fork lift accident rate falls

Mentor were very pleased by the recent news that major fork lift accidents have reached record lows. With overall accident totals falling by 45% and major injuries totaling below 400 for the first time since records were published, it seems significant progress is being made.

But it is vital that this good news does not breed complacency, as fork lift trucks still remain the most dangerous type of workplace transport in operation. As David Ellison of the Fork Lift Truck Association asserts, though things are improving, accidents are still far too frequent, "Even after the latest improvements, there were still 369 serious accidents - that's a worker hospitalised with a major, potentially life-changing injury, every single day of the year."

The best way to protect operatives against incident or injury is to ensure they undergo adequate training. To see how Mentor can provide comprehensive courses tailored to your requirements, please call 01246 555222.
