HSE warns employers of false certification

This warning follows a recent incident involving a construction site where the operator of a Telehandler had produced fraudulent copies of his driver qualifications. The operator went on to use the equipment incorrectly causing it to tip over and seriously injure a banksman.

The investigating HSE inspector, Bruce Monaghan described the incident as totally foreseeable and one that could have been avoided stating “This incident underlines the fact that employers and users of forklift trucks must check the experience and qualifications of those they employ in a particularly searching and careful way."

With this statement in mind we thought it appropriate to point out some of the key features of a Mentor certificate and highlight the steps taken to ensure that our certificates are secure and easily verified by employers.

What to look out for…

  • All Mentor certificates are printed on watermarked paper
  • Each certificate displays a holographic Mentor “M”
  • The information contained on the certificate is set out in a specific way and unique certificate numbers are recorded and detailed with reference to the delegate, course type and company

We would like to encourage anyone who is unsure of the legitimacy of any Mentor certificate presented to them to call us on 01246 555222 and we will be able to confirm any delegate’s qualifications from our detailed training records.
