Combilift’s Driver of the Year – Midland Heat

Mentor are set to judge the final regional heat of the Combilift Driver of the Year competition at Logistics Link Live on Wednesday 21 May.

Combilift Ltd, the manufacturer of the versatile range of 4-way forklifts will be holding the Midland Heat of its 2008 Driver of the Year Competition on the first day of the  Logistics Link Live exhibition at Magna Park (21st and 22nd May). Two other regional heats have already been held, and the winner of the Midland Event will join first placed Southern driver Roy Cleaver of Alsford Timber and Northern heat winner Mark Thompson of GAP for the grand finale at Combilift’s headquarters in Monaghan later in the year.

“These events have been very popular, with driving standards proving to be extremely impressive,” says Combilift’s UK Product Director Roy Redman. “We are also adding an extra element to the Magna Park competition in the form of some technical tasks to keep drivers busy when they are not actually competing.”

“Once you are familiar with the 4-way Combilifts, they are actually very straightforward to operate,” says Roy, “but we have added that extra challenge by designing a course which involves picking up and carrying large and bulky loads around obstacles, tight corners and, just for fun, backwards and forwards through a figure of eight – all against the clock, with penalties for unsafe operation!”  In order to ensure the highest quality of adjudication, the event will once again be overseen and judged by a representative from Mentor Training, the UK’s leading provider of operator training.

Information on the wide range of Combilift models will also be available from the Combilift stand in the hall,  and Combilift personnel will also be on hand throughout the show to give demonstrations of the trucks’ capabilities.
