Best Practice Guide launched for the Safe Use of Quick Hitches

Quick hitches when used correctly and safely prevent serious manual handling and crushing injuries while enhancing the productivity of the machinery. Unfortunately there have been a number of accidents involving the use of quick hitches with some tragically being fatal. These accidents could have been prevented by operator training and regular equipment inspection and maintenance.

Due to the number of incidents involving the use of quick hitches the Health and Safety Executive has worked closely with the construction Plant-hire Association to produce best practice guidelines for the use of quick hitches for buckets / attachments to excavators.

All excavator courses provided by Mentor cover the safe use of quick hitches and a specific quick hitch training module is also available for qualified excavator operators.
