It is Mentor policy to always work with leading associations and accrediting bodies in each training category in which we operate. Mentor work in partnership and are members of the following associations and accrediting bodies.
British Safety Council- The British Safety Council is one of the world’s leading occupational health, safety and environmental organisations. Founded in 1957, its mission is to promote health, safety and environmental best practice for the benefit of society and the increase of productivity. Mentor are full members of the Council.
For operator and instructor training
AITT - The Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT) was established over 25 years ago and has grown since then to represent and monitor the leading fork lift truck manufacturers and training companies in the workplace transport industry. The association was awarded accrediting body status by the Health & Safety Commission (HSC) in 1991 and approved for the training of Instructors and Operators in accordance with the ‘Approved Code of Practice and Guidance for Lift Truck Training’ (L117).
RTITB- The Road Transport Industry Training Board is a standard widely used in the road transport and warehousing industry. Mentor fully complies with and is accredited by RTITB. Regular instructor courses under this accreditation scheme are conducted at our Bromsgrove centre.
Fork Lift Truck Association - The FLTA is the most representative body of its kind in Europe. It exists to raise standards in the materials handling industry. In doing so, it helps to protect the interests of consumers as well as enhancing both safety and productivity in the workplace. Mentor have been thoroughly assessed and are full corporate members of the FLTA.
Driver CPC -The Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout Europe. It is a new legal requirement under European Law and came into effect in the UK on 10 September 2009 for all LGV drivers and 10 September 2008 for all PCV drivers. The aim of the scheme is to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV (and PCV) drivers throughout their working life and the new legislation requires all of them to undertake 35 hours of CPC qualifying training every 5 years.
International Powered Access Federation - IPAF was formed in 1983 to promote the safe use of access platforms. The rapid increase in popularity of powered access platforms, particularly in the construction industry, led to the creation of the IPAF training standard and PAL (Powered Access Licence) card. Now recognised and accepted in over 25 countries worldwide, IPAF is the standard for training and has a rigorous selection and accreditation scheme for its members. Mentor has been a fully accredited IPAF training (cherry picker training) provider since 2003.
PASMA - Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association established in 1974 developed the first PASMA Training course in the 1980's. PASMA is widely recognised and respected as the premier training programme for the safe use, inspection and supervision of Mobile Access Towers. Only available from PASMA Registered Training Centres, the authorised programme is not available from any other source. Mentor are a PASMA registered training centre.
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association - LEEA is established across the globe as the leading representative body for all those involved in the lifting industry worldwide. LEEA’s accreditation scheme is designed to offer independent verification that the company displaying the logo has met a range of standards that are critical in terms of the effectiveness of the courses being offered. Mentor was the first company to have their training course accredited by LEEA.
Mineral Products Qualifications Council - MPQC is a nationally recognised awarding body for National and Scottish Qualifications (NVQs/SVQs) for the extractive and mineral processing industries. Mentor have worked closely with MPQC and it predecessors (EMP & EPIC) since 2003 and we now offer a full and comprehensive range of plant operator training courses.
NSA - The National Skills Academy for Materials, Production & Supply is part of Proskills UK Group, which represents the interests of the Process and Manufacturing Sector on all skills related issues. The Academy provides employers and learners from the sector access to quality-assured and industry-relevant training and solutions. Mentor were one of the first training providers to become MPS-Academy accredited. Our accreditation covers all types of fork lift trucks, telescopic handlers, access platforms and mobile plant operator training courses and assessments.
OPERC (Off Highway Plant and Equipment Research Centre)- Mentor are one of the earliest members of OPERC which was founded in 2002 and is based at Loughborough University. The role of OPERC is to “disseminate ‘world class’ off-highway plant and equipment research to practitioners and assist in the promotion of plant and equipment science”. Since its foundation, OPERC has established itself nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for training standards mainly on plant used in construction and it continues to provide first class research and valuable practical guidance publications.
ISO 9001:2000 (British Assessment Bureau)- Mentor is registered to the internationally recognised internal quality management standard ISO 9001:2000 (ISO 9000). The ISO 9001:2000 standard was introduced in December 2000 and is recognised worldwide. It requires organisations to demonstrate that they have a quality management system to ensure consistency and continuous improvement; leading to higher levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
