To optimise the safe use of overhead cranes, it is vital that professional crane operator training is conducted by experienced and accredited instructors. Mentor has been providing crane operator training for over 15 years to a wide range of businesses ranging from steel manufacturers through to aircraft wing assembly.
Crane operator training courses are normally conducted at customers' sites so that the training is entirely relevant to the specific needs of the delegates. It is essential that when training a crane operator, the course is directly related to the knowledge of the operator, the likely hazards and to the size and complexity of the crane itself. All of Mentors instructors have extensive practical operator experience, knowledge and skills as well as recognised training qualifications enabling them to run courses in a safe, effective way that will best suit the operator's and the company's requirements.
The training courses offer the delegates both theoretical and practical training skills to enable them to operate the equipment professionally and safely. The specific site requirements for your employees training will be discussed directly with your Account Manager at Mentor who will ensure the instructor is fully briefed prior to the course commencing. All of Mentors crane training courses fully comply with the British Standards BS712-1:2006 which states that the training of personnel should be treated as an important element in the overall safe planning and supervision of lifting operations. It is the employers' duty to ensure that all operators are fully trained to use the particular equipment. Adequate supervision must be provided to monitor the competence of the operators and slingers with regular assessments carried out to ascertain the need for refresher training.
Most operators should also have the knowledge and the skills to carry out slinging. This may come as part of your Mentor operator course or an additional day may be required depending on the particular application. Mentors basic slinging course is designed for the simplest form of slinging but courses can be provided for the most complex of loads. The slinger should be over 18 years or under the direct supervision of a person competent for the purpose of training.
Courses are 1, or 2 days and the operators can be mixed and matched to achieve maximum value for money. For further information on crane operator training course lengths consult the appropriate page within this site and leave your details. One of our Account Managers will be in touch shortly.
